Blue Wave Branch of St. Charles
The St. Charles branch of Blue Wave Martial Arts opened in April 2004. The instructors at the St. Charles branch are Julie Hawkins and Mike Hickey who began their training at Blue Wave under the direction of Master David Blevins. Julie earned her 2nd Degree Black Belt in October of 2004 and is a meeting planner for the American Soybean Association where she has worked for 14 years. Mike earned his 2nd Degree Black Belt in June of 2010 and is an iron-worker with over 30+ years experience building St. Louis!
The students of the St. Charles branch range in age from 6 to 60 with many of the students being entire families with parents and children training together. Blue Wave St. Charles trains four nights a week (Monday-Thursday) at 6:30 p.m. for an hour with an additional class on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. The St. Charles branch meets at 1017 S. Duchesne Drive in St. Charles. Classes here are structured in the same way Julie and Mike learned from their teacher, Master Blevins.
Every student who trains at a branch club gets to train once a month with Master Blevins at Blue Wave. Tae Kwon Do is not exclusive to a specific demographic but provides benefits for everyone regardless of age or physical ability. Tae Kwon Do teaches patience, focus and determination among other beneficial life skills.
