Blue Wave Tae Kwon Do

Minimize

What is Tae Kwon Do?

It is more than just learning a few moves and earning a belt. Tae Kwon Do is a centuries-old martial art system that involves your whole person. Mind and body training is the idea. Learning perfect control, explosive power, composure under stressful situations and dynamic leadership are just a few of the topics that are part of the learning process. The training here is very vigorous which creates a great camaraderie between the students. There is a definite structure to the curriculum so you have a good idea where the training is going. And, while the training method is authentic with very old roots, our studio and teaching methods are very up to date. For a virtual tour of our studio click here.

Will Tae Kwon Do teach me self-defense?

Yes! We go beyond merely memorizing moves and techniques. Variations and applications of each skill and movement are thoroughly and exhaustively examined and practiced in class. The end result is a body hardened by training, reflexes that are honed by repetition, and an understanding of defensive processes and strategies. Tae Kwon Do is often the "go-to" martial art system for military and law enforcement around the globe. In fact, Master Blevins has instructed military personnel on more that one occasion. What other benefits can I expect?

There are so many good things that happen in this class. Students regularly recount about how their Tae Kwon Do training has aided them when dealing with stress. Athletic performance, work performance, school performance...all are improved when you have a heightened sense of awareness and focus. Physical dexterity and grace, flexibility and balance, confidence and assertiveness are tools of the trade in Tae Kwon Do. "Tae Kwon Do/ Karate Kids has been so important to our children. Since they have started karate at Blue Wave they have gained so much. Our son is more focused and responsible, while our daughter's confidence has improved by leaps and bounds, as well as her ability to stay focused. Master Blevins' instruction always suits the student whether they are 5 or 65. It has always amazed us how in tune he is with the students. Our kids, as well as my husband and myself have made life long friends at Blue Wave." ~Lisa White
