Q: What are the class sizes like?
A: Boot Camp is generally around 15-20 people. Occasionally more or less but we always seem to have plenty of room...especially when we go outside.
Q: Where do we meet ?
A: We typically meet up at the Blue Wave studio and use the surroundings there, but we occasionally go to Boulevard Park in Lake Saint Louis. That park is located at the corner of Lake St. Louis Boulevard and Ronald Reagan Boulevard.
Q: What should I wear to class?
A: Wear workout clothing based on weather conditions. When it comes to shoes though you should wear indoor aerobic shoes or cross training shoes for when we are inside and have a pair of running or cross training shoes for when we go outside!
Q: What types of equipment do we use?
A: In the past we have used dumbbells, kettlebells, medicine balls, Bulgarian sand bags, slosh tubes, snow sleds, frisbees, folding chairs, bungee cords, plyo boxes, boulders, ropes, stretch bands, sliders, tires, sledge hammers, and kicking bags. But you can never tell what else we might grab....
Q: If I'm not in shape, is Blue Wave's Fitness Boot Camp for me?
A: Absolutely! Our Boot Camp exercise classes are for men and women of all ages, and of all physical levels. We are here to get you in shape, at your own pace!
Q: How is Boot Camp exercise different from any other types of programs?
A: Boot Camp exercising is different because you we primarily do a lot of plyometric movements and core strengthening ideas. Plus there are a lot of unusual types of equipment involved.
Q: Do I need to bring anything to class?
A: All you need to bring is a water bottle and weather appropriate clothes/shoes. You may also need a sweat towel, because Boot Camp is intense!
Q: Will I burn a lot of calories?
A: You will typically burn about 700-800 calories per class although a couple of times we have gotten close to 900. It would be a good idea to have a little fruit or yogurt an hour ahead of time. And stay hydrated!
Q: Boot Camp's use plyometrics. What does that mean?
A: Plyometrics are explosive muscular contractions with with a "loading" phase. Think of jumping off a 3 foot high high ledge and landing in a controlled way then immediately bounding back up onto that same ledge in one smooth motion. Of course there are many more ways to incorporate plyometrics. These types of exercise are excellent for increasing acceleration and balance.
Q: Does your studio have showers?
A: Yes! After your intense Boot Camp class, feel free to use our showers and get ready to head straight to work from here.
Q: What kind of results can I expect?
A: You can expect to be very sweaty, tired, and absolutely rejuvinated!
Q: Are there photos of Boot Camp so I can see what you do?
A: Click on the Photos Tab above to see some of what we do. To see a whole lot more click HERE.
